A Conundrum, sometimes called Konundrum is a type of Instructional Puzzle that involves a specific set of instructions to follow. These puzzles usually involve little ambiguity or ahas, but often involve steps that are confusing or convoluted enough to require significant time and effort from the solver.

Background

The name comes from The Duck Konundrum, a puzzle written by Dan Katz for the 2000 MIT Mystery Hunt. Since then, DKs have become a genre of their own, usually reserved for conundrums written by Dan, often involving ducks. So while Duck Konundrums are a type of conundrum, they are often categorised separately.
