Fill-In-The-Blanks is a type of word puzzle in which, when presented with sentences with conspicuous spaces for missing words, solvers must fill the spaces with appropriate strings. Depending on the puzzle, there may be clear correct answers, or the missing words may share a particular characteristic that disambiguates the possible options.

Puzzle Application

Fill-In-The-Blank puzzles often involve elements of Trivia and general knowledge of grammar and sentence progression, with the goal usually being to produce factually and grammatically correct results. However, in hunt puzzles it's rarely as straightforward as that, and many puzzles will require additional constraint discoveries from solvers in order to find the correct words.

Notable Examples

  • Fill in the ______ (MITMH 2017) (web) - Several very blank-filled sentences that need filling. The key to this puzzle is that all of the missing words in each sentences start with the same letter, and each sentence does this for a different letter of the alphabet.
