Puzzle Elements[edit | edit source]

Flavortext - Welcome to the Pirate Ship! Aye, here be pirates. Arrrr!! Expectin’ wizards, eh? I say pirates are but wizards of a treach'rous sea. Not seein' that be yer first concern, savvy? Hop on, landlubbers, and ye’ll find out how pirates ended up in Wizard’s Hollow.

Green Eyes, Take Warning - This puzzle uses color—in particular, there are some blanks of assorted colors at the bottom of the pirate ship.

Hint in Flavortext - Welcome to the Pirate Ship!

Braille - The first few rows of the pirate ship are conveniently structured in groups of three, and each group has Os in positions resembling Braille dots. Indeed, these form words when converted from Braille (adding "eye"/I).

Enumerations - The next set of rows have one more blank than the corresponding word. Filling the words in...

Letter Insertion - ...and inserting an R at the position marked with an O forms new words.

Igpay Atinlay - Each of the resulting words, when spoken in Pig Latin, phonetically forms another phrase...

Enumerations - ...which are explicitly enumerated with the next set of blanks.

Marked Spaces - A double feature—the letters in the positions marked with Os now spell the word VICE, while letters filling the aforementioned colored blanks are transferred down to the final set of blanks.

Wheel of Fortune - The answer is then derived by filling in the remainder of the blanks to complete a phrase that fits the word VICE.

Asked and Answered - The answer can also be interpreted as the reason for there being pirates in Wizard's Hollow.
