Singapore Puzzle Hunt Chronology
← 2016

Singapore Puzzle Hunt 2017 was the 3rd iteration of the Singapore Puzzle Hunt, with kick-off occurring on July 8th, 2017.

Pre-hunt, the website and registration page contained the following blurb about the hunt theme - "A puzzling incident. A perplexing disappearance. An enigmatic problem. The clues have been gathered, but I will need a team of puzzle solvers to help me this time. Will you join me to solve this baffling mystery?"

1 month before the hunt, registered teams received the Prelude puzzle, which has an answer that hints at the hunt theme.

The theme for this year's Singapore Puzzle Hunt is a Victorian-era murder mystery. The round structure is based on an investigation format on the evidence and suspects, to figure out the murder weapon and murderer (and motive). So besides solving the individual hunt puzzles, teams also solve overarching murder mystery through the thematic metas. Teams may also use shillings accumulated from completing tasks (such as the Prelude puzzle) in order to thematically hire the Baker Street Irregulars to aid their investigation and provide some useful puzzle information relevant to their progress.

Plot[edit | edit source]

The theme for this year's Singapore Puzzle Hunt is "The Final Puzzle" (referencing The Final Problem, a Sherlock Holmes novel). Teams are detectives assisting Dr Watson to solve a murder mystery and the disappearance of Sherlock Holmes.

There are 7 Evidence puzzles, one investigated on each day. After solving the Evidence meta and figuring out the murder weapon, teams unlock the Suspects puzzles for interrogation.

There are 6 Suspects puzzles, corresponding to the likely perpetuators of the murder. After solving the Suspects meta, teams unlock the Endgame, where they use what they have figured out to solve the mystery.
