The 2024 Ptruzzle Hunt (the sixth non-treasure hunt in the series, and the first "Ptruzzle Hunt") went live at 9:00 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. "Ptruzzle" is Edric's portmanteau of "puzzle" and "truzzle" (the latter of which was its own portmanteau of "treasure" and "puzzle"), and this moniker implied that the 2024 hunt would start out in the style of Edric's Puzzle Hunts (based on the old time-unlock Australian hunts), but then pivot at a certain point to adopt the style of Edric's solve-unlock Truzzle Hunts.
The first round of the hunt was set at a rocky beach, with the puzzles accessible by clicking on various skipping stones arranged around the computer screen. Solvers did not realize it at the time, but this was actually hinting at the theme of the overall hunt, especially as the scene gradually, almost imperceptibly, became mistier/foggier as the first days of the hunts passed. Then, on Day 4, the Round One metapuzzle was posted (and a silhouetted figure was visible in the distance for the first time). Solving this metapuzzle took solvers to twelve more (oddly familiar-looking?!) puzzles for Round Two, by way of also revealing the true theme of the hunt.
