Galactic Puzzle Hunt (GPH) is an annual puzzle hunt run by ✈✈✈ Galactic Trendsetters ✈✈✈. It began in 2017 after team members finished MIT Mystery Hunt 2017 more quickly than expected and spent the next day or two constructing a round of puzzles, complete with a meta.[1] The GPH has run every year except 2020, which was skipped because Galactic was writing the 2021 MIT Mystery Hunt. The start date and times are often chosen to reference the mathematical constant π, as a reference to the running team's origins as floorpi. For example, the 2017-2019 start dates were chosen to be close to Pi Day, while the 2021 start date was chosen to be close to Pi Approximation Day (7/22).
