Logic puzzle

Logic puzzles are puzzles that revolve around linear thinking and logical deduction. Logic puzzle are one of the many puzzle types that are commonly used in puzzle hunts, and are perhaps one of the most common puzzle types due to their prevalence in casual puzzle-solving mediums such as newspapers and printed puzzle publications. However, they are not to be underestimated simply due to their commonality, as puzzle hunts often create variations on classics, or introduce constraints not normally seen in the wild.

Logic puzzles cover a wide range of established puzzle types (see Cross+A, James Marshall's, or Angela and Otto Janko's puzzle summaries). Many can be broken down into particular categories, the following of which have their own pages for further breakdown.

Grids Galore

• Path Drawing - Connecting points, making loops, and following many constraints along the way.
• Grid Shading - Colouring in cells, whether it's with actual colour or just greyscale. as long as it fits the clues.
• Number Crunching - Sometimes it's math, sometimes it's just numbers, but either way, placing digits is the name of the game.

Deduction Junction

• Zebra Puzzles - Who owns the zebra/speaks Spanish/drives a Mercedes Benz? Find out using a bunch of interconnected clues.
• Black Box - A game, program, or device takes an input and gives an output, but it's up to you to figure out how it works.
• Optimization - Making the perfect move, taking the shortest route, and getting the best possible outcome in a given situation.
