Player Piano is an interactive music puzzle from the Wizard's Hollow round of the 2020 MIT Mystery Hunt.
Puzzle Elements[edit | edit source]
Interactive - The puzzle is an applet that allows the solver to drag and drop pieces and play the notes on the pieces.
Criss Cross - The applet contains a criss cross; rather than letters, however, it provides pieces to fit into the shape. Each square on a piece holds part of a melody.
Identification (Music) - The solver is also given a series of images that each hint at a specific well-known tune; these tunes are what go into the criss-cross.
Reward Extraction - Completing the grid reveals another tune.
Marked Spaces - One space in this entry is marked with an arrow; the one word that would be sung over that space is the answer to the puzzle.
