| Teammate Hunt Chronology | |
Teammate Hunt 2021, titled Matt & Emma's Carnival Conundrum, was the second iteration of the Teammate Hunt, run by teammate, which ran in early October, 2021. The hunt has a carnival theme, with teams following Matt and Emma by solving various puzzles themed around carnival attractions.
However, once the first pair of metas is solved, Matt & Emma each find themselves in another dimension, where any mention of the existence of the other twin is lost. At this point, solvers can switch between two different versions of the site ("Matt" and "Emma"). Any mention of the other twin on the site (both in text and in pictures) disappears. Here, a signature element of the hunt comes into play: Click to revealSome of the puzzles are each entangled with another puzzle from the other dimension. That is, each puzzle in an entangled pair requires information or interaction from the other puzzle in order to solve it.
Plot
The story is conveyed mostly visually through art on the story page and the individual puzzle pages. A traveling carnival arrives in town, and Matt and Emma enjoy the carnival attractions, when they are eventually invited by the Magician to each enter a box to take part in a magic act (Magical and Entanglement metas).
Once they exit the boxes, however, they find themselves in a dark dimension, and are told that their twin sibling does not exist. Each of them solves puzzles in their own dimension, sometimes Click to revealworking together to solve cross-dimensional pairs of entangled puzzles, and tries to find the Magician. Once both of them fight the Magician in their respective dimensions (The Mystical Plaza and The Sword Swallowers metas), and solve the finale Hall of Mirrors, Matt and Emma return to their home dimension and finally reunite.
Structure
Matt & Emma's Carnival Conundrum is divided into two main rounds. The second round is further divided into the Matt and Emma sub-rounds ("dimensions").
