Setec Astronomy
Setec Astronomy is a team that participates in the MIT Mystery Hunt. Formed in 1996 by then-graduate student Chris Morse, Setec Astronomy is one of the longest running and successful MIT Mystery Hunt teams, having won the 1999, 2001, 2004, 2016, and 2018 MIT Mystery Hunts, therefore hosting the 2000, 2002, 2005, 2017, and 2019 hunts. The team size is about 45 people, and is still mostly composed of friends and friends-of-friends of Chris Morse.[1]
The name of the team comes from the 1992 film Sneakers, where a plot point is that "Setec Astronomy" is an anagram of "Too Many Secrets". The team has instituted a "we're absolutely not winning this year" rule in 2003 and for many years after 2005 (sometimes implemented as "taking a drink after every solve"), which has been parodied on at least one occasion, in the 2010 MIT Mystery Hunt.
