Metaphysical Plant

Metaphysical Plant is a team that participates in the MIT Mystery Hunt. Formerly known as Physical Plant, the team has hunted since at least 2003. The team has won the Mystery Hunt twice, in 2005 and 2010, thereby hosting 2006 and 2011. The team can be considered to be the original team from MIT's Random Hall, with a separate Random team with more recent students and graduates forming around 2010.

The Physical Plant name, used in the 2004 and 2005 hunts, is derived from the old name of the MIT facilities department, of the same name, and how the coin-finding message ("Physical Plant has found the coin!") would appear as if a random custodian stumbled upon the coin. The team changed its name to Metaphysical Plant in 2007, after having written the 2006 hunt. Prior to Physical Plant, the Random Hall team had used several other names, including "Blatantly Obscene, Three Monkeys, Ten Minutes" in 2003.
