MIT Mystery Hunt Chronology | |
MIT Mystery Hunt 2021 was the 41st iteration of the MIT Mystery Hunt, with kickoff occurring on January 15, 2021. Run by ✈✈✈ Galactic Trendsetters ✈✈✈, the hunt began with a scheduled conference with Yew Labs (MYST 2021, AKA Maturing Young Scientific Theories: Expanding Reality & You), where an announcement was made regarding the discovery of parallel universes, particularly one that was being studied at MIT. However, when it was revealed that head of Yew Labs and keynote speaker, Barbara S. Yew, had become trapped in the parallel universe version of MIT (known as the Perpendicular Institute of the World, or ⊥IW), teams were sent out to discover a way to travel there themselves and look for her.
Once this method, known as the Projection Device, was up and running, teams could explore the campus of ⊥IW and try to fix the many problems that had been caused by the presence of objects and people from an alternate universe. Eventually, teams were able to rescue Barbara Yew, but were told by her ⊥IW counterpart, Professor Hemlock, that if they didn't finish fixing everything, both universes would be destroyed. Ultimately, teams were able to save both universes after almost missing a final object that had been left behind by Dr. Yew; a quarter that she had placed in a vending machine upon arrival.

Leaderboard[edit | edit source]
This leaderboard was derived from the statistics provided by the hunt. Teams that finished the hunt are ranked in order of when they finished. Teams that did not finish the hunt are ranked by the number of adjusted solves that they had at 10am Monday, with ties broken by last solve time (not shown on this leaderboard). Solving a round meta granted all remaining solves from the rest of the round. Only the first infinite corridor puzzle of a given type counts as a puzzle solve.
